A Beautiful Journey of Love, Loss, Family and Second Chances

Book: YES: Love Will Find a Way

Author: Nilima Giri Panda | Genre: Contemporary Romance, Family Drama and Emotional Fiction

Some books tell us a love story, while others make us understand what love actually means. YES: Love Will Find a Way by Nilima Giri Panda belongs to the second category. It is an emotionally rich novel that explores love beyond romantic attraction, taking readers through friendship, family relationships, unexpected responsibilities, heartbreaking losses, unspoken feelings and the courage to accept happiness again. What makes this book different from a regular romance novel is its understanding that love does not always arrive when we expect it, and it does not always follow the path we have imagined.

Set largely against the beautiful mountain landscape of Vrindavan Baseera, the story introduces readers to characters whose lives are connected through relationships that gradually become more meaningful. The novel moves between different timelines, showing how the decisions of the past influence the emotions and circumstances of the present. This narrative approach builds curiosity while allowing readers to understand the history behind the characters’ complicated relationships.

The opening is particularly engaging because it immediately creates an atmosphere of uncertainty and emotional tension. A dangerous storm, a difficult journey through the mountains and the anxiety surrounding Manav Mishra establish that the story will involve more than lighthearted romance. As the narrative moves backwards in time, readers begin discovering the relationships, memories and choices that shaped the lives of Manav, Chitralekha and Jay.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of the novel is the relationship between Manav Mishra and Chitralekha Shukla. Their conversations are filled with playful arguments, teasing, sarcasm and the familiarity that comes from knowing someone for years. The characters initially behave like two people who cannot resist annoying each other, but underneath their constant disagreements exists a strong connection built on trust and shared experiences.

Manav is charming, outspoken, humorous and sometimes unnecessarily proud of his own cleverness. His personality brings considerable energy to the narrative. Chitralekha, on the other hand, has a different kind of strength. She is compassionate, responsible and deeply attached to her family and community. Her dedication to animals and her father’s veterinary clinic gives her character a practical and caring identity.

Their contrasting personalities create many entertaining moments. Whether they are arguing over small matters, exchanging sarcastic remarks or helping each other despite their apparent irritation, their interactions feel lively. The author successfully demonstrates how affection can grow within everyday familiarity, even when the people involved are unwilling to recognise its deeper meaning.

However, Chitralekha is much more than a romantic heroine. Her life has already been shaped by grief after losing her mother. The details of her daily routine, her responsibilities towards her father and the loneliness she experiences at home reveal a young woman learning to manage emotional pain while continuing with ordinary life.

This portrayal of grief adds maturity to the character. Instead of presenting sadness only through dramatic conversations, the author uses familiar surroundings, household routines and personal memories to express the emptiness created by someone’s absence. The reader understands how a missing voice, an unused object or an ordinary cup of tea can become a reminder of loss.

Another important strength of the novel is its portrayal of family as something created through care rather than determined only by biological relationships.

This theme becomes especially powerful when Manav and Chitralekha discover an abandoned newborn outside the veterinary clinic. Their immediate concern for the child’s safety reveals the genuine kindness behind their playful personalities. What begins as an unexpected discovery develops into one of the most meaningful relationships in the book.

The child, Jay, brings together individuals who might otherwise have remained divided by their personalities, circumstances and expectations. The arguments between Manav and Chitralekha over his surname introduce humour into a serious situation, but they also represent something deeper. Both characters want to give the child a sense of belonging, identity and unconditional affection.

The eventual choice of the name Jay Shukla Mishra becomes a beautiful expression of shared responsibility. The child is no longer simply someone abandoned and waiting for a family. He becomes someone surrounded by people determined to ensure that he feels wanted.

Jay is undoubtedly one of the strongest emotional elements of the book.

His presence gradually changes the lives of the adults around him. Through him, the author explores parenthood, adoption, emotional security and the idea that family can be built through kindness and commitment. His journey gives the narrative a wider purpose, moving it beyond the relationship between two romantic leads.

The involvement of Asha Children’s Home also adds a social dimension to the story. The author acknowledges that caring for an abandoned child involves legal processes, institutions and responsibilities. Although the narrative is primarily emotional, these details give the situation a broader context.

The novel also introduces several supporting characters who help establish the community surrounding the principal characters. Anupama, Dr Chitranjan Shukla, Sister Teresa, Sister Rina, Disha, Tara and others contribute different forms of love, guidance, humour and protection.

Anupama is particularly memorable because of her maternal warmth. Her relationship with Chitralekha shows that motherhood can exist beyond conventional family boundaries. Her presence offers emotional stability during difficult moments, and her interactions with the younger characters provide both wisdom and humour.

Similarly, Dr Shukla represents compassion expressed through everyday service. His veterinary work is not merely a profession but an extension of his concern for living beings. This detail supports one of the novel’s central messages: love is meaningful when it is demonstrated through action.

As the plot develops, the emotional complexity increases considerably.

Agastya Singhania introduces another dimension to the novel’s exploration of love. His life is influenced by family expectations, wealth, reputation and obligations that prevent him from freely expressing his feelings. Through his character, the author examines the difference between possessing social power and having the personal courage to make difficult emotional decisions.

Agastya’s struggle shows how wealth and influence cannot guarantee happiness. Despite belonging to a powerful family, he remains restricted by expectations that make him emotionally powerless. His internal conflict is a significant contrast to the simpler, more open relationships developing in Vrindavan Baseera.

The difference between Manav and Agastya is especially interesting. Both are connected to Chitralekha, but the circumstances surrounding their relationships reveal different approaches to love, responsibility and personal freedom.

The novel does not suggest that love is simply a matter of choosing between two people. Instead, it explores timing, emotional availability, sacrifice and the consequences of remaining silent when honesty is required.

Loss becomes another major turning point in the story.

The grief experienced by Chitralekha and Jay after Manav’s death brings considerable emotional weight to the narrative. The author captures how the absence of one individual can affect an entire family and community. Manav’s importance is established through the memories and relationships he leaves behind, making his loss more than an isolated tragedy.

The scenes surrounding his absence are among the more affecting parts of the book because they focus on the ordinary things that suddenly become impossible: hearing a familiar laugh, seeing someone in their usual place or continuing household routines without their presence.

Chitralekha’s emotional journey becomes especially significant here. She must learn how to continue living while carrying memories that cannot simply be forgotten. The novel treats this process as complicated rather than immediate.

This is where the title YES: Love Will Find a Way gains greater meaning.

The word “yes” represents more than agreement or romantic acceptance. It symbolises the willingness to face emotional vulnerability, acknowledge the past and permit oneself to experience happiness without viewing it as a betrayal of earlier love.

The author’s treatment of second chances is meaningful because she does not present healing as the replacement of one relationship with another. Memories remain important, and past affection continues to shape the characters. However, the novel also suggests that honouring the past should not necessarily mean refusing every possibility of future happiness.

Jay’s development strengthens this message. His own experiences of belonging, identity and affection gradually allow him to become an emotionally perceptive character. Rather than remaining only a child around whom the plot revolves, he contributes to the understanding of relationships within the family.

His interest in art also gives the story another expressive element. Creativity becomes associated with identity, observation, independence and emotional growth. The illustrations included towards the end of the book provide an additional personal touch.

The setting deserves appreciation as well.

Vrindavan Baseera is not simply a geographical location. The mountains, clinics, neighbouring homes, children’s home and village surroundings form an emotional landscape that reflects the characters’ changing lives. The familiar atmosphere helps make the relationships believable because the characters are connected through shared spaces and routines.

The mountains also create a symbolic contrast between distance and belonging. The characters sometimes travel physically far from home, but their emotional journeys repeatedly bring them back to questions of identity, security and love.

In terms of writing style, Nilima Giri Panda uses accessible language, emotional descriptions and frequent dialogue. The conversational scenes are often energetic and humorous, while the grief-centred passages are more reflective.

The multiple first-person perspectives allow readers to understand how different characters interpret the same relationships. This is useful in a story where misunderstandings, secrets and personal expectations play such important roles.

At times, the prose becomes highly dramatic, with strong emotional imagery and extended inner reflections. Some readers may prefer a more restrained approach, and the large cast and shifting timelines occasionally require additional attention. However, these qualities also reflect the author’s intention to create an emotionally expressive family saga rather than a minimalist romance.

The book is especially suitable for readers who enjoy character-driven stories involving friendship, found families, emotional sacrifice, complicated relationships and eventual reconciliation.

What makes YES: Love Will Find a Way memorable is its insistence that love can exist in many forms. It appears in a mother’s reassurance, a father’s service to his community, a young person’s decision to protect an abandoned child, a friend’s loyalty and the courage to remain emotionally open after tragedy.

The novel encourages readers to think about the people who become their emotional homes. Some relationships arrive through birth, some develop through friendship and some emerge unexpectedly when life takes an unfamiliar direction.

Overall, YES: Love Will Find a Way is a heartfelt and ambitious debut novel that combines romance, humour, family bonds, grief and the possibility of new beginnings. Nilima Giri Panda creates a story that is not only about finding love but also about recognising the love that already surrounds us.

Its most important message is that painful experiences may change the shape of our lives, but they do not have to destroy our capacity for affection. Sometimes happiness requires patience, sometimes forgiveness, and sometimes simply the courage to say yes.

For readers who appreciate emotional fiction with a strong family foundation, memorable characters and a hopeful message, this book offers a touching reading experience.
